I have a property held under joint name together with my spouse. Can I pass my shares of the house to my children in my will?

You have to first check your ownership details to determine if you are holding the property with your spouse as joint tenants or tenants in common. It will usually be under joint tenancy between spouses. If this is the case, you will not be able to pass on the share to your children in your will but upon death, it will be passing automatically to the surviving joint tenant.
