I am applying for 10 years long residence, however, my parents got into an accident a few years ago so I have to travel back home which makes my time away from the UK exceeded 540 days in total, what can I do?

    There are certain ways to counter this. We can either apply with compassionate reasons that a family member e.g. passed away, normally, depends on the strength of the evidences, the Home Office might accept it and grant you settlement. (please be aware that this is pure discretionary and differs from case to case).

     

    OR:

     

    We can apply in time and try to prolong the process of submission, since by law once an application is submitted, the applicant will be treated as a legal stayer and by prolonging the process, the surplus of days stayed in the UK might substitute the days away.
