I live with my Arab Muslim family in UAE. They have set limitations and control my every move even though I have an income and a regular job.

I am tottaly sick of it. I want to live alone in Dubai and leave them aside. What are my legal options? I am 26 now and sponsored by my father, does that give him the right to control where should I live and what to do?

Please someone help… I can’t take this anymore. I am planning to take my passport and leave ASAP, just want to know if I could get legal help from any legal consultancy services.

    Dear Hanna,

Thank you for your message. We are sorry to hear what is happening to you, unfortunately, we are English lawyers. We do not know any law in either UAE or Dubai. We may not be able to assist you on this matter.

    Thank you,

The UAE Constitution outlines the freedoms and rights of all citizens. It prohibits torture, arbitrary arrest, and detention, and protects civil liberties, including freedom of speech and press, peaceful assembly and association, and the practice of religious beliefs. All people, irrespective of their race, nationality, religion, and social position, are equal before the law.
